Do holidays make you tense, anxious or even depressed? Do short days, gray weather and an obsession over gift-giving accentuate your already-over-the-top grumpiness? Start undressing your stress this Thanksgiving by trying a few of these simple steps. Then rinse and repeat a few more times during the upcoming weeks.

Get up and run. Or do yoga, go for a walk, or play football in the neighborhood. Who cares if you can’t throw or catch a ball?! Not only will exercise burn calories for a guilt-free Thanksgiving feast, but you’ll boost your endorphins to improve your mood.

Meditate. The pace naturally picks up around the holidays, with a constant need to do, buy, and make things. Take a time out to breathe deeply, shut your eyes, and calm your mind. I’ve been enjoying Deepak Chopra’s 21-day meditation challenge and highly recommend it to others.

Give. Don’t forget the second word in this holiday’s name – thanksGIVING. Being grateful for life’s blessings is important this Thursday and every day, but so is giving! Did you know that giving is known to be as good for your health as diet and physical activity? There’s undoubtedly someone in your community that could benefit from your kind words and actions. It’s likely you will feel better, too.

Catch a flick. When’s the last time two hours of Bradley Cooper or Daniel Craig didn’t make you happy? You can watch either this men on Thanksgiving day for the bargain price of $10 (or both if you double the fee). And guys, Keira Knightley should be a sight for soar eyes, too.

Toast. Toasting to happy times reminds us of the little things in life to appreciate.
