This site belongs to Melinda Hinson (melindahinson.com). I keep things simple: I collect only what I need to respond to you, send you what you asked for, and keep the site running well. I do not sell your personal information, and I never will.
What I collect, and why
Forms you fill out
When you use a form on this site (the contact form, the launch list, the workshop list, an event inquiry, or a sample-chapter request), I collect what you type: typically your name, email address, and, depending on the form, your organization, a link you share, event details, or a message. Submissions are emailed to me and stored securely on this site so I can reply and keep track of our conversation.
Newsletter
My newsletter, Write to Reinvent, runs on Substack. If you subscribe, your email address goes to Substack, which manages delivery and unsubscribes under its own privacy policy. Every issue includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing always works.
Booking a call
If you book a discovery call, the scheduling service collects your name, email address, and chosen time so the call lands on both our calendars.
Analytics
I use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use this site: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from, and what devices they use. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects usage data, including truncated IP addresses, under Google's privacy policy. I use this information only in aggregate. You can block analytics cookies in your browser or with Google's opt-out tool.
Spam protection
Forms on this site are protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which checks that submissions come from people, not bots. Its use is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Hosting and security
This site is hosted by SiteGround, which keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) and may set short-lived cookies for security and caching. These help defend the site against attacks and load pages faster, and they are governed by SiteGround's privacy policy.
Cookies
This site uses a small number of cookies: analytics cookies from Google Analytics, security and performance cookies from the host, and cookies Google reCAPTCHA needs to tell people from bots. None of them are used to build advertising profiles, and this site runs no ad networks. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site will still work.
How long I keep things
Form submissions are kept for as long as I need them to respond to you and maintain our correspondence. Newsletter subscriptions last until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained on Google's standard schedule and only ever viewed in aggregate.
Who sees your information
Me, and the service providers named above (Substack, Google, SiteGround, and the scheduling service), each only to do its job. I do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and I do not share it with anyone else except where the law requires it.
Your choices and rights
You can ask me what information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Depending on where you live (including the EU, UK, and California), these may also be legal rights, along with the right to object to or restrict certain processing. To make any of these requests, write to me through the contact page and I will take care of it. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any issue.
Children
This site is written for adults and is not directed at children under 16. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information here, contact me and I will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If my practices change, this page will change with them, and the date at the top will tell you when. Meaningful changes will be noted here rather than buried.
Questions
If anything here is unclear, or you want to know more about how your information is handled, ask me directly through the contact page. I read every note.
